of us in the academy and media abide by. rush limbaugh is being called on on his madness and mess. those of us standing out here have to be willing to take whatever assault he give to us. you cannot dpo around beating up on people of color. you can't beat up on women. you can't beat up on people that don't agree with you. white men shoultd speak up. not just women and people of color. white men should speak up. >> here is the other thing. what limbaugh does is so dangerous. what we're trying to do is have a conversation about some of these issues. let's put them out there. let's con front what we're afraid of and try to move forward as a country. we'll never do that if we have people like rush pulling us back into that cave and fear of rage and anger. it's un-american the way he tries to divide us.

attacking women's reproductive rights seem to be the favorite past time of republicans as of late. lawmakers are passing legislation requiring 24 hour wait periods and in the case of arizona, making it legal for a doctor to with hold vital medical information from a woman if that information could influence the decision about whether to terminate the pregnancy. it seems information is being with held from the politicians leading the charge because they are making some stupid statements about the laws this public. here is the governor of pennsylvania on the state's proposed ultrasound mandate. >> wouldn't change it. we're still waiting to see. >> making them watch, does that go too far in your mind? >> i don't know how you make anybody watch. you just have to close your eyes. as long as it's on exterior, not

interior. amazing. joining us is sheila jackson lee. >> thank you for having me. >> it's estimated that a quarter of women in texas have no health insurance. now, they're one lifeline, planned parenthood is threatened thanks to republicans blocking federal funds. what is going to be the result for these women in your state? >> martin, first of all i feel that will i'm under siege. i don't know where to turn the i'm a woman beyond childbearing stage. i'm thinking about all the younger women and single parents who have utilized the affiliates of planned parenthood as their access to held care including young women in college. one who gave a testimony who

said she has been using planned parenthood affiliates. those are dealing with health care, mammograms and other physical issues that women have. i believe the story out of texas just adds insult to injury from pennsylvania to arizona and back to texas also has a sonogram law. what we have done is cut off the lifeline of health care to the state that has the largest number of uninsured persons period. now 130,000 women, 130,000 women, and more to come will now be denied access to health care. we're fighting against it. >> i think people thought that rick's perry damage was done once he left the presidential campaign. here is your governor, thursday on the subject of planned parenthood. listen to this. >> dwoents want planned parenthood and their affiliate who is are in the abortion

document case where is the federal law has been violated. this program has been going on since the bush administration because the law that was passed that was in essence started in 2005 in the state of texas. we have been serving women since that time. that was under president bush administration. what other administration would have been more astute about making sure that they didn't fund abortion, the bush administration. we have been using this program since that. planned parenthood has been successfully treating sick women, women who have no alternatives and we have been those entities along with other providers. what i want to say to the governor is, someone said, they don't want to see our tax dollars. these are women's tax dollars as well. don't tell us what to do with our tax dollars and frankly, our bodies. this is not a religious entity and therefore we're not violating any religion.

to ask why not get out and let rick santorum and mitt romney go one-on-one. my question to you is newt gingrich continuing to be part of this race of damage to the republican party? >> part a, yes, he's going to be part of the race. for how much longer it remains to be seen. likely to the convention as he made clear on tuesday night that he's going to compete in tampa. that tells me that he plans to be there. with respect to damage to the party, the damage has been done. it's not been the debate around the ideas or the central differences between the damage. the damage has been done from the name calling and the bric-a-bracs that's been throne back and forth. that's what has slowed the process down to crawl to some respect. newt's trying to bring it back up a level. be happy warrior, the happy newt was on display yesterday and the

are now sure how they will vote on it. even the most basic things like giving funding for domestic violence or sexual assault centers are now under attack. in terms of the various ways in which these sonogram tests are being forced on women or these ultrasound tests are being forced, i think it's appalling. when i had my first sonogram, i think it radicalize med even more. we're saying not only are you responsible for carrying the fetus to term but you can't make the decision on what you're supposed to do with your body. it's so crude that i'm just amazed this is part of our 2012 election cycle again. >> michael, are you disappointed at the way some of these issues are being characterized at the moment? >> i cannot begin to express my ire with the idiocy be this has

disclosed as discussion points. as the professor has noted prepare herself for gnaw life. she doesn't need to have this noise in her ears and worry about if she's carrying a daughter, what she will be entering into this world. i think the party needs to step off of this issue. get back to talking about the core issues. let individuals and communities work out for themselves what's in their best interest. >> when you say that that sounds so sensible and reasonable and appropriate. >> you see i'm no longer chairman. >> it sounds to me that reasonableness is really no longer welcome because when you hear what these candidates say, even in unprovoked moment, there does appear to be a desire to

attack women that just seems unseemly and wrong. >> i won't go to that point and say there's a desire to attack women because i don't believe that's what this is. i think this is come to the land of political. when you get on that terrain, everything is topsy-turvy and distorted. it's not a real reflection of the most important thing we should be doing. i know a lot of these folks that are spouting some of this rhetoric and they're not that kind of person or those type ts of people. i think people have got caught up in this thing that started a few weeks ago that was a legitimate debate that's now what is termed a war on women. i can say i'm not at war with women as a republican and 99.9% of the republicans who i associate with aren't as well. that's why we need to move off of this silliness and get back

he is now 3 million women in one state? >> no, no, that's 3 million women across the country every year that go to planned parenthood. it is tens of thousands of women in illinois that depend on planned parenthood. a number of us came out where mitt romney was having a fund-raising breakfast with the president of the illinois chapter of planned parenthood, and a dozen or so women holding up signs that said keep your mitts off our birth control.

it is time to clear the air. today we have no choice but to defer to analysis of one of the most outspoken defenders of the republican party that this country has ever seen. miss ann coulter. her personal bibliography includes titles like if democrats had any brains, they'd be republicans and demonday i can, how the liberal mob is endangering america, could not by any stretch of the imagination be described as a friend of the president or democrats in general. so it is instructive to hear her assessment of the candidates currently fighting it out for the republican nomination. >> i think our party, and particularly our movement, the conservative movement, does have more of a problem with con men and sharl tons than the democratic party. >> con men and sharl tons. i wonder who could she be referring to? could it be mr. and

mrs. gingrich who despite having no chance of winning the nomination and told repeatedly to get out of the race continue to travel the country, selling children's books about an elephant. could it be mr. herman cain, whose run for the nomination was so disastrous it left us confused as to whether he was running for president of the united states or the leading proponent of sexual harassment in the workplace. what we do know is mr. herman cain is available as an after dinner speaker. you see, to these candidates, it's all just a business. but perhaps the greatest irony of all is that every day we have to listen to republicans talk about reducing the size of government, removing the safety net, cutting unemployment benefits. mitt romney can't wait to remove funding for planned parenthood, even though that organization is the only source of healthcare for millions of americans. and yet while they talk about cutting the safety net to
